This course combines engineering and Motorsport learning to meet the fast-paced demands of the modern Motorsport and automotive industry.
You will gain an understanding of the Motorsport & engineering sector, covering topics such as Motorsport maintenance, performance parts installation and repair, race car set-up, fault detection and diagnosis, isolation and resolution methods, communication for motorsport events, maintenance, installation and repair activities.
This T Level consists of a technical qualification in Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing, an employer set project designed to develop core knowledge and skills, and an occupational specialism in Light and Electric Vehicles with Motorsport being the focus during the course.
The qualification includes a mixture of classroom learning, on-the-job experience during a mandatory industry placement of at least 45 days and opportunity to attend motorsport events as part of the BTC race team.

You will be assessed through written and practical examinations, employer set projects, group work and presentations. You will be set targets to work towards and achieve in your mandatory placement to help you develop the skills you need for your second-year practical assessment.
On successful completion, you will have developed the knowledge and skills needed for working in the Motorsport, Automotive and Engineering industries, and can therefore enter the industry through employment or as an apprentice.
On successful completion of the T-Level qualification and a maths GCSE at grade 6 or above (or evidence of sufficient prior knowledge), you could progress to the University Centre Somerset to study our Higher Education Motorsport course.
Graduates from the University Centre Somerset are now working at Empire Race Cars, Xtrac Engineering, McLaren GT, Radical Performance Engines, Red Bull and Bentley Cars. Alternatively, you could find employment in the motorsport industry.

Entry Requirements |
You need five GCSEs in the 9 to 4 range including English and higher maths at grade 5 or above, and a keen interest in the topic. Entry is subject to a successful interview. Other considerations: a Level 2 vocational qualification or equivalent in a related subject, with grade 5 or merit profile mathematics and science achieved through the Level 2 Motorsport course. |

I've really enjoyed learning all about the internals of cars and what a car relies on to run smoothly. This benefits me in the workplace because I know how parts work when I come to repair or replace them. So far my greatest achievement has been passing the first year.
